We must remain focused on the Lord |

![]() Steve Hepburn GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer NAME: Steve Hepburn CHURCH YOU ATTEND: Contrivance New Testament Church of God in Manchester. POSITION IN THE CHURCH: Pastor. HOW LONG SINCE BEING SAVED: I have been saved for almost 17 years. TELL US ABOUT YOUR MOMENT OF CONVICTION: It was a decision that I had taken that on my 17th birthday, I would give my heart to the Lord. It was at a crusade, and that conviction came upon me. I could not do anything but just to submit and surrender to the Lord. MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT SINCE BEING SAVED: Since I joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force, I have to deal with my secular job and to maintain my integrity, sanity and holiness, Christianity, and righteousness. My most challenging times are when I have to make decisions as they relate to what I do and what I should not do. The implications that it will have and how they will affect my Christian faith, my beliefs and all of that; and then, to a lesser extent, since I started to do pastoral work, I have had challenges with the work I have to do with the church and with church members and all of that; but I have managed to overcome. MOST MIRACULOUS MOMENT SINCE BEING SAVED: God saved me from the hands of criminal elements which held me up at gunpoint. I managed to get out without being hurt. God really sent someone to rescue me in Spanish Town, while I was on my way to work; just got married in 2004. Recently, during my ministry and preaching, the Holy Spirit descended on me, and I called an elderly woman, who was walking with a stick for years because she was disabled. The Holy Spirit allowed me to point at her, and I laid my hands on her one time. She dropped her walking stick and stopped using it because she had been healed. The stick is at my church on the pulpit as a symbol to say Christ is still in the healing business. She has never walked with a stick since. She is now stronger than before she started using the stick. MESSAGE TO CHRISTIANS: We are living in a changing world, and we ought to remain focused on the Lord; set our mind and our heart on the goal of winning the prize of being with Christ in the eternal heaven. Remain steadfast in your calling; stand fast, therefore, in the liberty where Christ has made you free, and not be entangled again in the yoke of bondage. MESSAGE TO NON-CHRISTIANS: Today is the acceptable year of our Lord Jesus Christ; and those who are out of God and Christ need to make it in. As Noah warned back then of the impending flood and judgement - and people failed to take heed, and what happened - just now, we as preachers and prophets are warning of what is to come. The burning, the fire, the unquenchable fire to come. So one has to turn over his life today because the bible tells us that these are the perilous times when men have become lovers of themselves more than lovers of God; high minded, proud and boastful, and that is not what Christ requires. Forget all those things, forsake all those things and turn to Christ because that's all that matters. Without Christ, at the end of the day, we are nothing, because it is the soul that matters. FAVOURITE BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Philippians 4. YOUR FAVOURITE SONG: 'What Will It Be When We Get Over Yonder'. |
