Manchester businesswoman murdered

SHANICE WATSON, STAR Writer

A Manchester businesswoman was shot and killed a short distance from her home yesterday afternoon, the police said.

She has been identified as Norma Henry-Cole of Confidence Avenue, Mandeville, who operates a trucking and car rental service.

Reports are that she was heading to the town centre to conduct a business transaction while being accompanied by a male companion.

However, the police said she only made it to about 120 yards from her home when a man attacked and killed her in her car. He reportedly escaped in a getaway vehicle.

The police said they observed what appeared to be gunshot wounds in the woman's face.

Vendolyn Cameron Powell, who heads the Manchester Police Division, told THE STAR that the murder does not seem to be gang related, but they are still in the process of collecting evidence.
