Hard-hitting Barbados batsman, Kirk Edwards, sees representing Jamaica Scorpions as the ideal opportunity to resurrect his West Indies career.

The 30-year-old, who has 17 Tests and 16 one-day internationals under his belt, has been at loggerheads in recent times with officials of the Barbados Cricket Association.

Some issues

This has resulted in him missing out on most of the action of the WICB four-day and one-day tournaments, something he hopes will change with the move to the Scorpions.

"There are some issues going on with regards to me, and the Barbados team, some of which I am not even fully aware of," said Edwards,

"I have not been playing, and have not got any explanation.

"But that is past me now, and I don't care about that anymore. I just want to go out there, play some cricket, and hopefully impress the West Indies selectors once more."

Good show

Edwards, who is currently taking part in Jamaica's sixth and final trial match, is one of three overseas players looking to make the Scorpions line-up.

The others are Guyanese opener Trevon Griffith, and former Leeward Islands captain, wicketkeeper turn batsman, Devon Thomas.

Meanwhile, day two of the four-day trial match saw batsmen again putting on a good show with John Campbell's XI making 310 in response to 302 by Paul Palmer's XI.

Opener Shacaya Thomas hit a topscore of 74 for Campbell's XI. Kerry Holness made a shot-filled 62 off 53 balls. His knock included nine fours and three sixes. Edwards made 46.

Topping the bowlers was Jason Dawes, who claimed four for 63.
