There has been heavy speculation that a body that was fished from the Sandy Gully in Seaview Gardens in Kingston yesterday may be that of missing photographer and operator of nickfotoworks.com, Niketa Thomas.

Though no confirmation has been provided by family or the police, a photograph that is making the rounds on the Internet and through social media has everyone on edge. Persons are claiming that the deceased male in the picture was clad in a jersey similar to the one Thomas supposedly went missing in.

When our news team visited the community yesterday, residents say they stumbled on the body and summoned the police.

According to eyewitnesses, the body was spotted shortly after 3 p.m.

Checks with the Seaview Gardens police revealed that the body was in a decomposed state and was quickly removed to the morgue.

An officer close to the investigation told THE STAR that a post-mortem is to be conducted today.

Everton Thomas, brother of the missing photographer, told THE STAR last evening that the family has been in contact with the police and plans are afoot to ascertain whether the body is that of his brother. Niketa Thomas and his cousin, Dwight Brown, have been missing since Monday, October 5.
