Fly with Bold Aviator |

![]() Shamaree Muir JIMMIE, STAR Writer BOLD AVIATOR gets the right trip, a favourable high draw and is light enough to cut down six rivals in tomorrow's overnight allowance at a mile. Toss the four-year-old gelding's September 27 run out the window. Drawn at stall three at 1200 metres, he was squeezed at the start by a combination of TOOTING KAT and BORDER LINE, both coming across from post-positions four and five, respectively, causing Paul Francis to snatch up and back out to last. Running at odds of 11-1, BOLD AVIATOR raced last down the backstretch, along the rail, turned for home last and remained at the rear under a hand ride as EDISON easily won the sprint. BOLD AVIATOR had finished similarly on July 26, at the same distance, before returning to strike at 9-1, August 22, closing like a train at 1300 metres, but had his number taken down with Aaron Chatrie aboard. Prior to his September 27 last-place finish, BOLD AVIATOR had returned among overnight allowance horses, September 5, seeking to atone for his August 22 disqualification. However, he was too heavy, 53.0 kilos, to match strides with RAGING PROSPECT on the lead at 2000 metres. Omar Walker tried rating the gelding down the backstretch, while ROYAL VIBES and RAGING PROSPECT dueled on the lead. RAGING PROSPECT kicked on from ROYAL VIBES, six furlongs out, causing Walker to go in chase much sooner than he would have liked. Two-turn specialist Sent in chase approaching the home turn, BOLD AVIATOR almost pulled level with RAGING PROSPECT, but his stamina limitations were exposed against the two-turn specialist, who found another gear and set sail for home with eventual winner PRINCESS SHINE swooping down for the kill. Renewing rivalry with ROYAL VIBES and RAGING PROSPECT, BOLD AVIATOR should be cosy in the catbird seat, watching them go at each other down the backstretch before Shamaree Muir makes his move coming off the final turn. RAGING PROSPECT might have run BOLD AVIATOR off his legs at 2000 metres, using stamina to quicken up the lane. However, in a quicker pace, he will be forced off his bridle too early to withstand BOLD AVIATOR mid-race pace in the stretch run. Even though fitted with blinkers for his last four races, ROYAL VIBES continues to be one-paced, not finding much when set down by his riders. Drawn at post-position two, he will have no option but to be on the lead early. He will be running heaviest of the trio, 53.0 kilos, which won't help his cause on the lead or in a stretch duel. In contrast, Muir is drawn widest with BOLD AVIATOR, giving him a sweeping view of his rivals, the perfect spot from where to creep down and outfinish the tiring leaders. |
