Councillor injured during brawl

André Williams, STAR Writer

People's National Party (PNP) delegates in Central St James yesterday voted for attorney Ashley-Ann Foster to represent the party in the constituency in the next general election.

However, the voting exercise was marred by a fist-fight among supporters.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the brawl involved PNP councillor for the Salt Spring Division in the St James Parish Council, Sylvan Reid, and PNP supporter Don Brownie.

The two men clashed at the Farm Height's Com-munity Centre where attorneys Ashley-Ann Foster and Henry McCurdy were supposedly locked in a keen battle to represent Central St James.

Reports from the police are that both Reid and Brownie were charged for the altercation, however, both men said they were not arrested, having only given statements to the police.

THE WEEKEND STAR was told that Reid sought medical attention for his left eye following the fracas.

Foster polled 252 votes, while McCurdy got 185 votes.
