Farmer wants god-daughter's child to be his

Bjorn Burke, STAR Writer

A farmer in Riversdale, St Catherine, is willing to accept a baby boy as his own, whether it is proven that he is the biological father or not.

Jason Parram, 43, says that it does not matter if he is the biological father of the three-year-old boy, as he just wants to know the truth once and for all.

"From the baby born, a me a look after the baby and a me have the baby. But she did have a boy weh she did live with so she did give it to that boy," Parram explained, adding that he will continue to take care of the child regardless of the DNA result.

While he was not entirely open about the situation, the child's mother, 18-year-old Shanisha Martin, also residing in Riversdale, provided a different account of how she became pregnant.

"Him take mi in from me small so he's my godfather. From mi a 12, mi live with him," Martin explained, noting Parram is 25 years her senior.

"Him take me as him daughter because him don't have any child. Him tell people say mi a him daughter because mi father dead from mi a 11."

Sexual relations

Martin further explained that they are not in a relationship and she did not plan her pregnancy. She also hinted that there was some amount of sexual relations with Parram while growing up at his home.

"Mi used to live there and mi used to talk to this guy that used to want come to fi him house fi look fi mi. So him (Parram) say in order the for the guy to come there, mi have to deh with him first," she said.

Martin maintains that her 21-year-old boyfriend is the child's biological father

"Me never look pon him (Parram) and say the baby a his own," she said. "The 21-year-old, a him did a feel all a my baby pain, all a my sickness, because mi go school right through and a him start feel pain from before me ready fi have baby," she explained.
