Positive feeback to Buju, Marco collab

Buju Banton - FILE

Singer Marco is upbeat about the early response and success of his collaboration 'My Favourite Song'. The song, produced by Mark Hudson (Stone Cold Records), features dancehall veteran Buju Banton.

Since its upload to YouTube less than a month ago (and with no form of social media promotion), the song has garnered over 15,000 views. The song has also received five-star rating from a number of websites, blogs, and online publications.

Additionally, My Favourite Song is being played on a number of wide-ranging radio stations around the world, even stations that do not traditionally play reggae and dancehall music.

"Music industry insiders have said they are impressed with the overall production of the song. It was mixed by Steven Stanley, so that's a big deal for me," said Marco.

Vocal comparison

Stanley, a noted producer, engineer, and musician, has worked on many hits, which have climbed the Billboard charts over the years. As a member of the new wave group Tom Tom Club, he produced the group's Billboard gold-selling single Genius of Love, which has been sampled by numerous artistes.

Insiders have compared Marco's vocals to those of the late Michael Jackson, rhythm and blues singer Ne-Yo, and Chris Brown.

"Those artistes are my music idols, so it feels good to hear people making the comparisons. God is good," Marco said.

Marco's team is currently in negotiations with major record companies in the United States. They are also exploring options to promote the song globally. There is also a pending collaboration with an artiste from DJ Khaled's We the best Music label. Additionally, Marco is working with famed producers Sly and Robbie on a musical project.
