Struggling Waterhouse feel the heat

Marc Stamp, Star Writer

COACH of Waterhouse FC's senior men's team, Calvert Fitzgerald, is fully aware that he is under pressure to start winning games after a poor start to the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) football season.

Waterhouse lost their third game on Monday night, going down 1-0 to Harbour View at Harbour View Stadium. Rosarrio Harriott netted for the winners in the 71st minute.

With this loss, Waterhouse are at the bottom of the 12-team standing on one point from four games. Although it is early days, as the team is scheduled to play 29 more games in the preliminary stage, Fitzgerald is under a little pressure to turn around the team.

Veteran coach

"There is pressure in not winning games as Waterhouse is a top four team," Fitzgerald told STAR Sports yesterday.

Looking back at the Harbour View game, the veteran coach, who spent many years at Rivoli United before making a return to Drewsland this season, says his team was unfortunate on Monday night.

"I thought our goal was a legitimate one but the referee thought otherwise, and he is human. I think we played well and can take the positives into the next fixture," Fitzgerald noted.

Waterhouse will next play newcomers UWI FC, come Sunday. The team needs to start winning especially at home.

"All games are tough in the league, so we take no team lightly. In football, you will have a bad patch and that is what we are going through," he admitted.
