Murder She Wrote was produced by rhythm twins Sly & Robbie and is one of the most sampled dancehall/reggae anthems of all time. In 2013, the song was sampled by Nicki Minaj and French Montana for Freaks. Was followed by American/Latino rapper Pitbull, who collaborated with Cuban reggae singer, Osmani Garcia, for El Taxi. Other artistes such as Trey Songz, DJ Dopy, RMX Crew and Cymphonique have also made versions of the song. Duo Nany and Valashine made an entire Spanish version of Murder She Wrote. Omarion's Post To Be remains on the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 48 after 37 weeks on the chart. Chakka Demus and Pliers are credited as the first Jamaican act to have three consecutive top-five hits on the UK Singles Chart, a record unsurpassed until Shaggy scored four consecutive top-five hits in 2001. "When yu know sey yu do yu work and people a copy it, yu have to feel good. Mi just beat two juice, and right now mi a guh beat two more because it is a joy and this means new money," Chaka Demus, 51, said. Chaka Demus and Pliers also filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2010 for more than US$10 million in unpaid royalties and accountability for record sales, relating to their album, All She Wrote, which was released in 1993. The case has yet to turn in favour of the artistes. however, they remain optimistic. |
