![]() Win third match in as many outings since return to top flight Livingston Scott, STAR Writer Portmore United's Ricardo Morris continues to take this season's Red Stripe Premier League by storm, netting his third goal in as many games, to help Portmore score a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Waterhouse at Waterhouse mini stadium, yesterday. The victory pushed the team five points clear atop of the table with nine points from three matches. The former national under-20 midfielder scored a scintillating equaliser on 35 minutes, after Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson headed the host in front after 26 minutes. The dynamic and tricky left-footer picked up the ball just inside the Waterhouse half, and had his two markers on their heels, he then beat a third defender on top of the box before calmly slotting under Richard McCallum with the outside of the boot, while still under pressure from the tracking defenders. Substitute, Maalique Foster scored the winning goal in the 75th minute. The midfielder's pace, energy and trusty left foot pose constant problems for the Waterhouse defence, and McCallum had to pull off two brilliants saves to stop him from adding to his tally. Portmore assistant coach Jeffrey Hewitt said after Morris saw limited playing time while at Montego Bay last season, he was determined to prove himself, and he believes the work the 23-year-old put in the off-season is bearing fruit. "Ricardo is a warrior and he was really hell-bent on proving his worth, so when he came back (from MoBay) he really worked hard during the preseason, he was very dedicated towards his preparation and it showed today. He added that the psychological preparation the club put their players through is also having a positive effect and he expects the young player to carry his form through the season. In other games Newton Sterling scored a hat-trick as Arnett Gardens crushed Boy's Town 4-0, Rivoli United defeated UWI 1-0 and Humble Lion had a similar win over Tivoli Gardens. |
