Williams wants to lower PB |
|||||
![]() Danielle Williams Shayne Fairman, Star Writer With an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships women's 100m hurdles title in her repertoire, Danielle Williams said her focus next season will be to lower her personal best to 12.49 seconds. Williams, who revealed she's happy competing as the underdog, said one doesn't have to be among the big names to be successful in life. "Keep working hard, keep following your dreams. Once you set your goals and you work hard to achieve, and you believe in yourself, anything can happen," Williams said. The athlete participated in her second World Championships at age 22. She then turned 23 days later. She joined Brigitte Foster-Hylton as the only Jamaicans to have won the 100m hurdles at a World Championships. Williams' fast 12.57-second clocking makes her feel not only special, but confident she will go faster. "I had set a target this year of running 12.49, I haven't met that target as yet, but I think I will make that my goal for next season," she told STAR Sports. "Going forward, I hope to be at all the major competitions. I can't say that I will be because the future is unpredictable so I will just continue working hard and try to accomplish my goals that I set," she said. Williams has been working with coach Lennox Graham for the last five years, and remains happy with the partnership. "Lennox Graham has brought me success so I will stay with him." One of the persons she has had to compete against on her way to success was her sister, Shermaine, who finished seventh at the World Championships with a time of 12.95. "I don't think that if I had made the final, and she didn't, or vice versa, it would have felt as successful as it does now," she said.
