Football's world-governing body, FIFA, will stage the first FIFA futsal coaching course in Jamaica, October 12-16.

The course will be conducted by FIFA futsal coaching instructor, ambassador and development consultant, Graeme Dell.

Dell is widely credited with establishing futsal in England and is FIFA'S first futsal development consultant. He is also considered one of Britain's most experienced international coaches across all sports.

Dell was employed as the football association's national futsal coach and was in that position since the FA started its futsal programme in 2003 when he led the first-ever England futsal team in the 2004 UEFA Futsal Championships.

The course, which will be held at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium at the University of Technology, Jamaica Football Federation Football Centre (JFF), will include representatives from parish associations, national coaches and representatives of entities with experience and interest in futsal.

This course continues the JFF's unrelenting policy of improving the knowledge base of coaches in all aspects of the sport. Other than beach football, futsal is the only version of small sided football officially approved by FIFA.The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.

Many of the top world-class footballers played futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their footballing development. players of the calibre of Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Lionel Messi, to name but a few South American legends, all played and enjoyed Futsal.

Futsal has not just helped produce South American football stars. on the European stage, Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Xavi, Fabregas, among many others, have played Futsal to develop their skills.
