Weir to start Kidney Foundation 5K run

Olympian Warren Weir and former Miss Jamaica Universe Kaci Fennell will start the 5K Run/Walk for the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica, the Kidney Support Foundation of Jamaica and the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring on Sunday at the Police Officer's Club in Kingston.

The run is scheduled to start at 6:30 a.m. the walk will start five minutes later. Weir will start the run. Fennell will start the walk.

Weir and Fennell are two of five 5K ambassadors. The other ambassadors are Olympian Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, World Junior Championships gold medallist Jaheel Hyde and athlete-coach Ramone McKenzie.

The start and end point is Police Officers Club, Hope Road.

The route starts at Police Officers Club, right, on to Hope Road; left, on to Trafalgar Road; across Lady Musgrave Road; on to Downer Road pass Spic and Span; left, on to Old Hope Road; left, on to Windsor Avenue; left, on to Fairway Avenue, left, on to Lady Musgrave Road; left, on to Hope Road and ends at Police Officers Club.

The category prizes include first, second, and third male and female; youngest and oldest finishers; largest group; best dressed group and age group winners.
