Blind woman grateful for support

Visually impaired Alicia Fowler said she was grateful for help she has been receiving since THE Weekend STAR highlighted her story in August.

"I'm so speechless. I can't find the words to express thanks to everyone who has helped me. May God shine His light on them because I wouldn't have reached this far without their help. And even those who don't have to give, God still bless you," Fowler said.

Despite the support she has already received, Fowler still needs $27,000 to clear up an outstanding balance before accomplishing her dream of owning a house.

When Fowler's story was first highlighted, she told THE Weekend STAR that after years of contributing to the National Housing Trust, she had qualified to purchase a house. However, she needed $42,000 to clear up an outstanding balance before the transaction could be made.

In 1996, Fowler was robbed and shot in her eye by gunmen. The incident left her blind and unable to care for her four children.

After a series of failed attempts to earn a living, Fowler devised a plan to buy a house, which was offered to her at a reduced cost. She plans to live at the house with her children and rent out the other rooms in order to earn additional income.

Although she has already received a bit of assistance, Fowler is still in need.

Her NCB account number is 064 693 921. Persons wishing to contact her can do so at (876) 314-3848.
