Logycal seeks major breakthrough

Dancehall newcomer Logycal is confident of taking his place among the more celebrated core participants.

In a genre saturated with new talent, Logycal, 25, born Andre Williams, said he has what it takes to separate himself and not get lost in the chorus.

The Portmore resident believes it is now his time, after being groomed since age 16. "From I was around 13, I started just for fun at the time, but I took it up on a professional level at 16. At 17, I recorded my first song," he said.

Eight years later, Logycal is more consistent with his recordings, now promoting his singles Hotta Dan Dem and Summer Time, both on Youtube and Soundcloud.

The St George's College alumni said his stage name is a microcosmic representation of his music. "I chose that name because of what I will be bringing out in the music, logical arguments," said Logycal, who is inspired by Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and Buju Banton.

He describes his own music as "motivating, inspiring, fun, authentic and down to earth". He has received good receptions at small-scale shows and is eager to share his music on a larger scale. Logycal is managed by Richie Pooh, Kimani Smith and Roel Smith.
