St James woman dies from kidney failure |

![]() Kimika Jones, as she pleads for help in July. - Alan Lewin Alan Lewin, STAR Writer Two months after she sought public assistance to pay for medical treatment for her failing kidney, 24-year-old Kimika Jones, from Felicity Road, Montego Bay, has died. In July, THE STAR carried a story about Jones pleading with the public to help her cause. She was diagnosed with a failing kidney and needed help with her medical treatment. She said she needed $60,000 for a test at the lab, as well money for dialysis treatment. Though her family was only able to render minimal financial assistance, singers Lady Genius and Dr Love came to her aid, providing a bit of assistance. Having been in and out of the Cornwall Regional Hospital for the past two months, Jones met her end on September 10. Died in brother's arms According to her brother Shane, Jones never got enough to help with her medical bills. Jones died last week in her brother's arms while returning to the Cornwall Regional Hospital for treatment. Her brother said the family is preparing to give her a good funeral, despite the financial strains. |
