West Indies all-rounder, André Russell, says the concept of giving back was the main reason behind him presenting to his alma mater, Clarendon College, cricket and football gear, recently.

The all-rounder, who has been making strides in limited overs cricket in recent years, especially in Twenty20 cricket, made the presentation while on a tour of the school.

"Clarendon College has given so much to me, in terms of sports, and having excelled in cricket, giving back is something I always wanted to do," said Russell.

"I played several sports, while attending CC, with cricket and football being at the forefront.

"However, I also participated in basketball and track and field sports, which I hope to make donations to as well in the future."

The presentations, which were made to school principal, David Wilson, includes cricket equipment such as a gear bag, batting pads and gloves.

The football donation included balls and playing equipment.

"The hope is that with these presentations they will help youngsters realise their true potential. My career started at Clarendon College, and I would like to see others do the same as well."

Clarendon College are the defending rural area daCosta Cup champions, while in cricket, the school was two years ago rural and Under-14 champion.
