Bodies of newborn twins washed ashore

Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

Up to late yesterday, detectives from the Yallahs Police Station in St Thomas were kept busy trying to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of a pair of infants, who were reportedly washed ashore in the parish.

The deceased infants, who are thought to be female twins, reportedly washed on to land with umbilical cords still in tact.

When THE STAR contacted the police's Corporate Communica-tion Unit (CCU), details surrounding the incident remained sketchy, however, it was revealed that the twins appeared to be newborns.

The incident reportedly caught the attention of residents in the parish about 1:45 p.m. yesterday. Subsequently, the police were summoned. The scene was processed and both bodies removed to the morgue.

Persons with information are urged to contact the Yallahs police at (876) 982-5075, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.

Investigations continue.
