Pepsi-Cola Jamaica, through its brand, Gatorade, has once again pledged its support behind the Kidney Support Foundation of Jamaica annual 5K Health Run/Walk. This year, the Kidney Support Foundation of Jamaica has joined forces with the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica and the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring with the aim of making the event even bigger than before. The Kidney Support Foundation of Jamaica and partners are seeking to fulfil their mandate to educate Jamaicans on the prevention, management and treatment of end stage renal disease (kidney disease) and assisting in the provision of dialysis equipment and supplies to the hospitals providing treatment. The 5K Health Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 20, at the Police Officers' Club on Hope Road, commencing at 6:30 a.m. It will be led by Professor Lawson Douglas along with other guest race ambassadors, including Garth Gayle, general secretary of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, and Kaci Fennell, former Miss Universe Jamaica. Hydrating Gatorade will be out on the road on the race day providing hydration for all the participants. The official sport drink is ideal for replenishing of lost water, electrolytes and carbohydrates excreted through sweat. It is not solely a thirst quencher for athletes, but it is helpful in preventing dehydration and muscle cramps during and after strenuous workout
activities. |
