Commissioner to rid force of crooked cops

Dr Carl Williams

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Commissioner of Police Dr Carl Williams says he plans to rid the force of rogue members and also strengthen the recruitment policy for persons desirous of joining the organisation.

"We will need to be of impeccable behaviour. We will comb their communities for truth and honesty. We have to stop those with sully lifestyles from joining," Williams said.

Williams was speaking at a Commanders Parade in Spanish Town, St Catherine, last week Thursday.

"The few miscreants in the force often tarnish the reputation of decent hard-working members. They must be exposed as we are going to weed them out of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, " Williams added.

He said that when he took over as commissioner, integrity, honesty and accountability were always his mandate and it will not change.

Murder reduction

"So I am begging you to help and get rid of these miscreants out of your ranks, " the commissioner said.

Meanwhile, he commended the St Catherine North police for its reduction on murders.

The parade was designed to boost the morale of police personnel.

During the ceremony constables Oral Williams and Claudia Daley were promoted to corporals.

The business community, the church and the parish council gave the consensus that a unified approach is the way forward.
