|||||
![]() Nicole Aiken-Pinnock SHAYNE FAIRMAN, STAR Writer Ace national netballer, and Sunshine Girls skipper Nicole Aiken-Pinnock has revealed that Jamaica's failure to medal at the Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, last month was very disappointing and has called for plans to be put in place to remedy the team's shortcomings. The world number four-ranked netballers finished behind Australia, New Zealand, and England, failing to medal at a second successive championships. Aiken-Pinnock, believes Jamaica will only beat the best with more resources and better planning. "There are many lessons to be learnt from this championships; we will look at it and move forward," she said in a recent interview. "Looking forward to the next four years, we definitely have to start hunting sponsors from early, we can't wait till the world championships year to start preparing and getting the work done," the player stressed. She added: "The other top teams are way above us! They have all the resources, so we need to start early so we can at least get there. "We really have talent in Jamaica. I urge Netball Jamaica to get these players on board and start the journey to 2019," Aiken-Pinnock told STAR Sports. Still assessing herself as a player, and concentrating on work, school and family, the goal shooter maintains her commitment to Netball Jamaica. |
