Mitchell pleased with progress

Despite her team, Legendary, losing their status as defending champions when they were knocked out of the semi-finals, Sasha Mitchell had much to cheer for as she claimed the Best Shooter award following the completion of the Manchester Netball Association finals in Mandeville at the weekend.

A new team, Genocide, emerged champions, after defeating Chester Divas 22-11. Interestingly, Chester Divas comprised Mitchell's younger teammates at Manchester High School.

The highlight of Mitchell's season came in the third-place play-off against Royal Flat, as she netted all 26 of her team's goals in a 26-9 win to claim the third-place prize of $20,000.

Mitchell has been playing with Legendary since her second year at Manchester High.

She has also been a key part of that team's dominance of netball in the parish, having won every available title over the last four years.

At 6'3", the 19-year-old isn't so gung-ho about a career in netball.

"I like netball, but I wouldn't consider myself a sports person," she told STAR Sports.

For now, she has other options on her mind. In a week or so, she will enter upper sixth form to complete CAPE studies in business and architecture.

Asked if she desired to have a crack at enhancing her skills up to the national level, Sasha said, "I am just not sure."

What is beyond doubt is her immense talent, and the value it bestows on netball, at least in Manchester.
