Accused cop thief hospitalised after mob beating |

|
A police constable who reportedly attempted to break into a house in Spaldings, Clarendon, remained in hospital up to last night after he was beaten by an angry mob. He is identified as constable Jason Smith of the Spanish Town Police station in St Catherine. Reports are that about 11 last night, Smith was held along with two other men. He was beaten severely by persons who accused them of being thieves. The two men managed to escape, however, the policeman was held. He is said to have suffered two broken arms, a fractured skull and multiple stab wounds during the attack. The police were contacted and Smith was taken to the Spaldings Hospital where he was admitted. Meanwhile, a search has been launched for his alleged accomplices. |
