Dangerous Chatrie forced to stand down |
|||||
![]() WOMAN IS BOSS (Aaron Chatrie) was disqualified after passing the post first in the seventh race at Caymanas Park on Saturday. JIMMIE, STAR Writer JOCKEY Aaron Chatrie was deemed "a danger to himself and others" and "was in no condition to continue riding" for the remainder of the racemeet, the stewards told STAR Sports, explaining their decision to stand him down following the disqualification of WOMAN IS BOSS in Saturday's seventh event at Caymanas Park. Chatrie had passed the post in front aboard the Gary Subratie-trained four-year-old filly, but had his number taken down for interference to 56-1outsider ASIA'S DREAM shortly after the start. It took a lengthy deliberation for the stewards to disqualify 4-1 chance WOMAN IS BOSS in the 1000-metre straight race, Chatrie's second disqualification in a week. Already seething after last Saturday's disqualification of another of his mounts for trainer Subratie, 9-1 outsider BOLD AVIATOR, Chatrie lost his cool and delved into what was described as "ungentlemanly behaviour". "We could not send him back out there," said operation steward Eustace Williams, explaining the stewards' reason to stand him down for his two remaining rides on the 10-race card - SEEKING HOPE in the eighth event and STAMP OF AUTHORITY in the nightpan. "He was in no condition to continue riding," steward Haldene Johansen added, pointing out that Chatrie will appear before them tomorrow to explain his actions. |
