Social media hails 'fantastic four' |

SHANICE WATSON, STAR Writer Although the men did not medal, Jamaicans still had plenty reason to celebrate on the final day of the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, as the females, dubbed 'the fantastic four' delivered a stellar performance in the 4x 400m relays to cop Jamaica's seventh gold medal. Exuberant fans took to social media to commend and celebrate the win of the quartet, which comprised of Christine Day, Shericka Jackson, Stephenie McPherson and Novlene Williams-Mills. The fans seemed particularly impressed by 33-year old cancer survivor, Williams-Mills, who ran the final leg. Twitter was buzzing with comments: Media personality Dionne Jackson-Miller was overwhelmed by the powerful victory as she tweeted: Literally had tears in my eyes watching Novlene #FightBack #ThisIsWhatTeamWorkLooksLike #WorldChamps Another journalist, Abka Fitz-Henley tweeted: Never saw that coming, stellar legs from Jackson and Novlene Williams Mill! Felix gave it her best but the Americans are beaten, again! Other Twitter users shared similar opinions. @Gabrielle_dlh: Coming back from breast cancer Novlene, wow.. God is good! @sanjthompson: is like Novlene say Gold medal a gi weh and it naaaaah miss me to. Their maiden win was in Edmonton in 2001. Jamaica's athletes left the IAAF World Championships with a medal tally of 12 - seven gold, two silver and three bronze. |
