Shereita Grizzle, STAR Writer Although originally released in early July, a song by a Clarendon-based recording artiste has resurfaced and is causing quite the stir on social media. Sagitar has seemingly caught his big break after a video of him singing a tribute to the world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, has gone viral. The track titled Usain Bolt Anthem is a tribute to the track star and has been garnering huge attention since Bolt's win in the 100m at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on Sunday. The song generated so much interest that it even caught the eyes and ears of Bolt himself, who eventually shared the video on his Facebook page. His post also went viral. On Monday, Bolt uploaded the video to his Facebook page with a caption beckoning producers to get in touch with the artiste, even boldly stating that he would cover the cost of getting the track produced. "Jamaican producers link up. Put Sagitar on a track right now and me cover the bill," Bolt said in the post. Sagitar, who hails from Clarendon, revealed that since Bolt made the post he has been getting a lot of calls from producers who want to work with him, but he made it clear that the song already has a producer. "Since Bolt made the post there have been a lot of calls from producers who want to work with me on the song, but Moby's records are already the producers," he said. "They were there before Bolt made the post and we won't be moving it (the song)". Great accomplishment CEO of Moby's Records, Ryan Singh, told THE STAR that he was happy for Sagitar and that he was looking forward to speaking with Bolt sometime in the near future. "Sagitar and I are both from Clarendon, so it is a great thing not only for him, but for all of us in the parish. It is a big achievement and as soon as we can, we will be in touch with Bolt because I'm sure he's unaware that the song already has a producer," he said. Nonetheless, Sagitar says he is overwhelmed by the increased attention he has been getting over the last few days. When asked about how he felt when he saw Bolt sharing the song, the artiste said the feeling was indescribable. "We are talking about Usain Bolt. He's the greatest athlete of all time, a celebrity and to see him sharing the video was overwhelming. I am very happy," he told THE STAR. He also said that even though Bolt was the inspiration behind the song, he (Bolt) didn't have to like it. "Thumbs up to Bolt because he didn't have to like it or re-post it, so I'm very grateful," he said. "I didn't see it myself innu. Some people saw it and told me about it and say Sagitar yuh song a shot." Following everything that has transpired over the last few days, Sagitar said he is looking forward to what the future holds and is anticipating meeting Bolt in person one day. shereita.grizzle@gleanerjm.com |
