Defending Westmoreland Netball Association (WNA) champions, Westlanders Netball Club, put themselves in position to defend their title, with a blowout 42-9 win over Savannah in Saturday's semi-finals at the Frome Sports Complex. They will face Mix Strykers in Sunday's final.

Westlanders, who are the overwhelming favourites, were always going to be too strong for Savannah, who did well themselves to end the group stage as runners-up, but there was always going to be one victor and that is Westlanders.

Mix Strykers' advance to the championship decider was settled with a walkover, as Harvesters failed to show for their clash.

Westlanders are seeking the double, after taking the July 5 opening rally honours over Savannah and third place Mix Strykers in the 11-team contest and just like then, are proving to be the dominant force in Westmoreland netball.

The massive 33-point win simply underlines the strength of a team that looks ominously good enough to repeat as parish champions in Member of Parliament's Dwayne Vaz inaugural season as title sponsor.

The final is set for Sunday, August 30 at the netball court at the Frome Sports Complex.
