The bail application for a man charged with murder was refused last Friday when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court after it was cited that he ran from the murder scene and was on the run for some time.

Charged with murder is Shamoy Dacosta, 20, from Olympic Way, St Andrew.

He did not enter a plea when the matter was called up. He was represented by attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie.

The court was told that the incident occurred in April this year and Dacosta was held in August.

Allegations are that a sharp instrument was used to stab the now deceased woman.

The court was told that the post-mortem report and the arresting officer's statement were outstanding.

Resident Magistrate Simone Maddix told Dacosta's attorney that the court is not considering bail at this time. He was further remanded and returns on to court September 28.
