A man who allegedly got a 13-year-old girl drunk before he sexually assaulted her was granted $500,000 bail when he appeared in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

When the matter was mentioned, his attorney made a lengthy bail application on behalf of the accused.

Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks granted bail on condition that he report to Bull Bay Police Station daily and reappear in court on October 28.

Allegations are that, in June, the complainant was lured to a location by the accused, who gave her alcohol and later sexually assaulted her. A report was made to the police and an investigation launched.

This resulted in the accused being charged with rape.
