Sizzling summer for Chi Ching Ching |

![]() Chi Ching Ching - File André Williams, STAR Writer Summer is nearing an end, however, for fast- rising entertainer Chi Ching Ching, arguably one of the hottest names in dancehall right now, it has been a "Way Up and Stay Up" experience for the newly signed Unruly Entertainment artiste. Chi Ching Ching, born Radion Beckford, attributes his successful summer to numerous factors, including new management and his loyal and increasing fan base. He met with THE weekend STAR recently and spoke highly of his new team among other career moves. He said: "Way up! from mi sign to unruly gang, mi gone way up. That was a good choice I made by officially signing with Unruly Entertainment. big up mi boss, Popcaan." Chi Ching said his summer was a good one and that he is thankful, having made a lot of successful moves coming from the "carpet to the corporate". This past summer saw the tall entertainer being featured twice on the Sumfest stage, performing alongside Popcaan on Dancehall Night, and then again on International Night as part of the Pepsi Refresh Tour. He said: "This was my first official Sumfest booking by myself, I first graced that stage four years ago with Ding Dong." After Reggae Sumfest, Chi Ching told THE weekend STAR he took the party straight to Dream Weekend. "The experience there was way up, far out. I was booked for Dream Live, but, after that, we stayed and I performed at most of the parties, promoting myself. The feedback was good; everybody a tell mi say dem see di growth and I must keep doing good music and stay positive," Chi Ching Ching told THE weekend STAR. He said one of his most memorable feat this summer was having the music video to his hit song Watchi Wyah shot and premiered by internationally renown Fader Magazine. He said: "I'm living my dream right now; all weh mi see a gwan. Unruly Entertainment and Chi Ching Ching, we very comfortable building our brand. When I see Fader put out the video and say is one of the "maddest" video ever made - shout out to the whole Fader team, Rob and Carlene, and more strength to my Unruly family." Chi Ching said a burden had been lifted off his shoulders. "To put out Way Up Stay Up, weh bad, and Watchi Wyah, weh bad, mi did affi find a bad idea, not because is Ching dem say it bad. I want dem to watch and say it bad," he said. Chi Ching and cricketer Chris Gayle will be hosting their birthday party at Triple Century on Saturday, September 19. |
