A man pleaded guilty to assaulting the mother of his child in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with malicious destruction of property and unlawful wounding is Mikey Brown.

According to official reports, the accused threw a bicycle at the complainant and punched her in the face, causing her to fall into a nearby gully.

Brown is also accused of damaging the complainant's Blackberry phone, a SIM card and a handbag.

The accused was ordered to pay $20,000 to the complainant to compensate for the damaged items and the expenses incurred because of injuries she received.

Brown will return to court for sentencing on September 2, where he will also be issuing the ordered sum to the complainant.
