Two men who were wanted for the murder of 23-year-old Constable Lynden Barrett were captured in separate operations in Silent Hill, Manchester, and Belvedere Road, Red Hills, St Andrew, between Tuesday and yesterday. They have been identified as Horatio Livine, otherwise called 'Ratio', of Dread Lane, Denham Town, Kingston 14, and Gratiano Green, otherwise called 'Beh Beh', of Regent Street and Tulip Lane in Denham Town, Kingston 14. Barrett, who was attached to the Kingston Western Division, was shot and killed in the vicinity of Wellington Street, Kingston, about 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. Reports are that Livine was captured about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Silent Hill, Manchester, during a police operation, while Green was captured about 6:30 a.m. yesterday on Belvedere Road, Red Hills in St Andrew, during another police operation. The police said that contrary to allegations by some residents of Denham Town that the late constable was killed by his colleagues or that the police were involved in his killing, they have evidence that suggests that the men were involved in Barrett's murder. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Elan Powell, head of the Criminal Investigations Branch, is reminding persons who attack the police that they will be hunted and brought to justice. He is also imploring them not to engage the police when confronted but to surrender peacefully. Additionally, friends and family members of wanted persons are being warned that they stand to face prosecution if they are found offering them a safe haven as it is a criminal offence to harbour a fugitive. |
