Sunshine Girls barely beat Malawi |

|
Jamaica's Sunshine Girls had a very close win over Malawi 63-62 in the final round-robin game of Pool E in their Netball World Cup 2015 campaign on Thursday. The Jamaicans must now face defending champions Australia in the semi-finals for a place in the gold-medal match. The Sunshine Girls will try to upset World Cup hosts Australia. These two teams last met in the 2011 World Cup in the semi-final, which Australia won 82 to 46. Australia finished first in Pool F, securing their semi-final berth with comfortable wins against England, South Africa and Wales. A key matchup in this game will pit Romelda Aitken against Laura Geitz, teammates in the 2015 ANZ Championship-winning Queensland Firebirds. Geitz has her work cut out for her after Aitken shot at 91 per cent during yesterday's match against Malawi. Australia has won all 11
previous World Cup meetings between these two countries. |
