Dancehall artiste Lisa Hyper and her co-accused were slapped with fines when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, to answer to charges arising from a confrontation between the two. When the matter was called up yesterday, Lisa Hyper, real name Felicia Gooden, and Anna Kay Hamilton pleaded guilty with explanation. They were both charged with common assault and disorderly conduct. The court was told that an argument developed after Gooden allegedly threatened Hamilton. Hamilton told the court, "She was saying what she gonna do to me when she see me, she spat at me and I spit at her back." The court heard that the incident transpired while both accused were being processed at the Stony Hill Police Station. Gooden, however, told the court that Hamilton's friend was perplexing her. She said, "My dad was really sick and I had a breakdown at the time of the incident, I was going through a lot." Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece, in response, asked Gooden whether she thought her situation is special. Wolfe-Reece said, "Not even at the police station you people have respect, we are at a crisis when we reach to this stage." Both Gooden and Hamilton were fined $25,000 or three months for common assault and $2,000 or 10 days for disorderly conduct. |
