Concrossiss wins big at 6th Akademia Awards

For Concrossiss, real name Kevin Forrest, growing up between May Pen and Portmore in Jamaica was not a walkover, and finding his talent in music was the only thing that helped him to stay away from trouble throughout his earlier years in the country.

It was no surprise to Concrossiss when he won big at the sixth Akademia Awards on May 15, held in Los Angeles, United States, for 'Best Reggae Video' for his single, Walk Away from Trouble. The single, which has been receiving heavy rotation on local airwaves and internationally in Japan, Costa Rica, Guyana and other parts of the world, warns youths about the importance of staying away from trouble and heeding to this warning will result in a better life for all.

The video was shot in New York where the artiste is based and shows issues that youths in inner-city communities may be plagued with, but also shows the importance of being positive.

On winning the prestigious award, which Alicia Keys and numerous other internationally acclaimed artistes have won, Concrossiss says he is humbled and also looks forward to the promotion package, valued at US$100,000, which he received as part of the win.

Having returned to Jamaica last month, Concrossiss plans to launch his Walk away from Trouble Music Foundation to help raise funds for inner-city families. The foundation is also in memory of his childhood best friend who lost his life at an early age.
