Veteran Ronald Brown Jr edged Andrew Yap by 10 points in an exciting showdown in standard division on way to clinching three titles at the recent Jamaica Cup Emancipation Pistol Championship.

Two divisions turned out to be almost one-sided affairs at the two-day tournament held at the Jamaica Rifle Association's Mountain View Range and Woodleigh, May Pen, Clarendon.

Jamaica's Lesgar Murdock took 14 of 16 stages in open for an easy win. Invited American 'Top Shot' competitor, Simon Racaza, won 13 of the 16 stages in production.

The ding-dong battle in standard division between Yap and Brown came down to a nail-biting finish.

Brown eventually amassed 1,334 points to Yap's 1,324, landing him the Presidents' Medal, Jamaica Cup trophy, and seniors' title for the division.

Manchester Rifle and Pistol Club's Orville Henriques took third spot in standard with 1,202 points. Master Class Patrick Evelyn was fourth on 949 points.

Day one of the Jamaican Cup at Mountain View saw Murdock running off with six of eight stages. Fellow Florida-based Jamaican Rory Wilson nabbed two. Savannah La Mar's Duane Samuels was always in close contention but was unable to overtake Murdock and wilson.

Murdock commandeered all eight stages in May Pen on day two, closing with 1,407 match points.

Rory Wilson got second with 1,218 points and Samuels, third, 1,139.

Fourth overall, Lennie Moulton won the senior's category with 1077 points.

Grand Master Racaza schooled his opponents on accuracy and speed and took all eight stages at Mountain View in production, leaving CZ USA boss, Grand Master Angus Hobdell, and Jamaica's Anthony Johnson in his wake.

Shooting better at Woodleigh, Hobdell managed to snatch three stages but not enough as the match ended with a 1,409 win for Racaza to his 1,125. Ecuador's Carlos Palma shot 1,030 points to hold on to third. Johnson held fourth and was crowned Jamaica Cup Production Champion with 957 points.

Kevin Cheung stepped out of his usual open category to shoot the Woodleigh-only Emancipation Cup in standard, finishing second in B Class behind ellsworth Dixon. Jonathan Roye won C class ahead of Michael Harvey.

Leighton, Scott and Sian Mitchell were runners-up in C Class production, respectively. Sanjay Welsh beat Ainsley Walters to round off D Classas the invited foreigners were not eligible for that award.

Western Jamaica was well represented as Raphael Dormer and Avril Birch finished first and second, respectively, in D class, standard division.
