Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter Two inmates accused of assaulting a warden while behind bars answered to assault charges when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm are 33-year-old electrician Rohan Masters of Luke Lane, Kingston, and 23-year-old chef Roshane Hamilton of Cumberland, Portmore, St Catherine. Both pleaded not guilty to the offence. Allegations are that, on March 14, the male complainant, who is a warder, was on duty at the New Horizon Remand Centre, St Andrew, when he was attacked by the two accused. It is said the complainant was punched all over his body by both men, resulting in injuries. The reason for the attack remains sketchy. In court, Hamilton had his bail extended by the sitting magistrate. Masters was further remanded. Both men are scheduled to
reappear in court on August 27 for trial. |
