Another JUTC bus crashes

Another Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus was involved in a road accident yesterday when the bus ran off the road into a gully in Barbican, St Andrew.

Head of Marketing and Communication at the JUTC, Clinton Clarke, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the driver, who was the only person in the bus, sustained some injuries.

"The driver has a broken shoulder and cuts to the back of the head. I'm not sure if he has been released from hospital as yet," he said.

Clarke could not confirm the cause of the accident, however, chairman of the company Reverend Garnett Roper, has speculated that the driver may have fallen asleep while on his way to pick up staff.

This is the second accident involving a JUTC bus since the start of the week.

On Monday, a street vendor was killed when a bus struck a car and plunged into a building in downtown Kingston.
