Brands 11-y-o for accidentally hurting baby SHANICE WATSON, STAR Writer A dressmaker appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magis-trate's Court on Monday after she was arrested for severely burning a child with a hot pot. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and cruelty to a child is 41-year-old Ann-Marie Brown of a Kingston 12 address. Reports are that on July 27, the complainant, an 11-year-old boy, was carrying a baby past a coal stove when the baby's bottom got burned accidentally. Upon learning of the incident, Brown became enraged and used the pot to burn the boy on his bottom, causing serious injuries. Brown was arrested after she took both children to the Bustamante Hospital for Children to get treated. A social worker made a report to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse. She was remanded and is to reappear in court next Tuesday when the medical report is expected to be ready. The 11-year-old boy is still in hospital. |
