Roxy J gets second chance

Despite declaring an intent to 'inject some testosterone' in the female-dominated season 12 of the Digicel Rising Stars competition with her wild card, Alaine opted instead to give contestant Roxy J a second chance on the show after she was eliminated.

The stunned audience supported her decision, saying it was a good call after an unimpressive performance by Twin Heads and Jermaine Bryan, who were vying for the chance to be Alaine's pick for the show.

Following on the 'dancehall/reggae' theme of the night, the duo Vanity Club was up first with a rendition of Bob Marley's Could You Be Loved. Conroy's wild card, Marsha K, allayed Conroy's fears with a spicy, dynamic performance of Tami Chynn's Hyperventilating. Up next was Jay Keda, who caught and kept the attention of the audience with her energetic medley of popular dancehall songs.

Ashanie Reid slowed things down a bit with a classy rendition of Alaine's No Ordinary Love, but failed to convince the judges with her performance.

Crowd favourite Anna Mariah stepped outside of her comfort zone with a medley of dancehall songs, which had the audience cheering and sitting at the edge of their seats. However, most of the judges agreed that dancehall was not her strong point.

Comeback kid Roxy J fought a hoarse throat to put a gospel spin on Cat Stevens' Another Saturday Night, but still fell short with her performance. Jody Kay James followed with a militant delivery of Tessanne Chin's Messenger, and got rave reviews from both the audience and the judges.

Closing out the night's show were Samantha Bogle and Roshelle Harris.
