It's not easy being the son of a living reggae star, ask music producer Ricardo Tristan Palmer who is following in the footsteps of his superstar father and singer, Triston Palma.

"He is proud of me because music mi a do right now. His son has come do the same thing that him do, and it is a great feeling to know that he is proud of what I am doing," Palmer said.

Triston Palma is a legend in reggae music. At one point in the early 1980s, Palma had nine songs in Jamaica's Top 40, including his biggest career hit, the dancehall- influenced Entertainment.

Palma has worked as a producer himself, along with artistes such as Phillip Frazer, Josey Wales and Robert Ffrench.

Palmer is making his name in the 21st century as a rising talent in production. He has even produced his superstar father.

"I have a song with him called Blue Lights, featuring Beenie Man and a next individual. that song will be released in September," he said.

Palmer is excited about his latest dancehall projects, Beenie Man's Rule Uptown and Weh Yu a Deal Wid My Yute

"These are my biggest songs right now, Weh Yu a Deal Wid My Yute is playing on HOT 97," he said.

The producer's most successful song to date is the breakout radio hit, Twinkle Star, that rose to number three on the reggae iTunes chart earlier this year. The single was one of the songs on the 'World Star' rhythm.

Palmer grew up in Maverley, St Andrew. He attended Maverley Junior High school before entering Norman Manley High School.

He started music production almost 10 years ago with the 'Hitman' rhythm, featuring Vybz Kartel, Sizzla and Future Fambo. He credits the late genius music producer, 'Blacks', as a mentor who helped him to become a beatmaker.
