Mr Straight ready to please local fans

With a number of his tracks are getting good rotation on radio stations overseas, dancehall artiste Mr Straight said he is ready to receive love from his local fans.

The singjay is still flying high from his recent number-three spot on the US Top 15 Pro DJ Urban/Dance Chart with his single Kool Breeze. He is eyeing this summer as his break-out season.

A catchy, crossover with a slightly '90s rhythm but fresh sound, Kool Breeze is tipped as a summer song alongside a string of others from the singjay's 14-track album, Victory.

"Kool Breeze a di song fi di summer. A it a do it!" said the confident artiste.

The track has been getting airplay on Irie FM and, so too Happy Days, also from the album, is on numerous mix tapes. Kool Breeze has been played on at least five radio stations in England.

"It's getting good response overseas, but [penetrating] the Jamaican market is difficult," said Mr Straight, born Horace Hudson.

The singjay had a number of songs before dropping Victory in 2014 and has accused fellow artistes of pirating his songs.

He said their actions make it difficult for up-and-coming artistes like him to gain the recognition they deserve.

"Mi have song out dere weh artiste weh established more than me a pirate," he said.
