Family reflects on deejay's life Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter Following the tragic death of veteran Jamaican deejay Red Dragon, who passed away on Saturday after ailing for sometime, his family and friends are now left to pick up the pieces. Brother of Red Dragon, Winston 'Richie' May, told THE STAR that he remembers his sibling as an industrious individual and is doing his best to keep strong in his time of grief. "He is a hardworking man. He is always a man trying to find ways out of difficulty," he said. "He is kind, he has his moods, but he's very kind. I want to tell you that it is hard, his son and daughter cry almost everyday. Their mother feel it too. For me, life goes on, it's hard." Red Dragon's close friend and brother-in-law, deejay Junior 'Daddy Lizard' Bryan, was also in a reflective mood. "He was like a brother to me. He is my brother-in-law, and the way we live, people don't look at us like in-laws," Bryan said. "People say we live better than some brother because we grown with one another. Red Dragon is a good guy, a good youth. He is different yaw man, we love Red Dragon." When THE STAR contacted deejay Michael 'Flourgon' May, another brother of Red Dragon, he was equally as distraught. Red Dragon, whose real name is Leroy May, rose to stardom and gained much popularity in the 1980s. His first big hit was Hol' A Fresh for Winston Riley. The deejay died in hospital after being ill for sometime. He reportedly died as a result of complications arising from hypertension. He deejayed with several sound systems in the early 1980s, including Barrington Hi-Fi, Stone Love, People's Choice, and his own Rambo Mango, initially working under the name Redman. His early recordings included Computer for producer Charlie Chaplin and Nah Get Nutten for Harry J.
