Kyodi sees himself as one day becoming bigger and better than Vybz Kartel.

Having started his career in music a few years ago, this 19-year-old past student of Kingston College and Excelsior high wants to be the king of dancehall.

"I want to pass Kartel by a mile. When Kartel tell people to jump, they say how high. I want when I tell them to jump, they are going to ask if they should jump into the river or on the rocks," said the confident lyricist.

He gets a chance to test what that experience will be like next Friday, August 7, when he releases his debut EP, Nuh Brawtupsy. The EP will feature five tracks including a catchy tune, Money De De; Heap A Gal, featuring 2015 Magnum Kings and Queens Winner, Devin Di Dakta; and Put In Di Work. The others are Cum Ya Gyal, Nuh Watch Party and Nuh Get Up.

The tracks, which have been enjoying healthy rotation on a number of local stations, were recorded at Icon Music Group, Dehva House and FOB Records, and will be distributed via iTunes/21st Hapilos.

Kyodi said his music is all about reality.

"My music is about everyday life," he said. "It is what I see in my surroundings that allow me to put pen to paper."

Kyodi, born Kyodi Green, has been putting pen to paper ever since he was a child growing up in Big Yard, off Mannings Hill Road, St Andrew.

"I was always writing stories and poems, and there was always music playing," he said.

He eventually brought the two elements together and, even though he had initial challenges of writing to music, he said he now lets the flow of the music bring his lyrics into being.

The EP, he said, will help him gauge how people responds to his music, which, in turn, will help him determine what direction he takes.
