Boring people are easily bored |

![]() Every so often you hear kids today declare how bored they are or how boring someone is. It is kind of annoying because boredom for me is a state of mind. If you limit yourself to only certain pursuits, you are going to be bored because invariably, those limited number of pursuits will become monotonous and soon, you lose interest. I have never been bored because there is always something new to learn, something new to explore. Every morning I wake up there are a million exciting things happening across the world new developments in technology that, hopefully, will make the world a better place, or make the jobs of a few million people redundant. Some public personality will always be doing something that triggers a wave of reaction. For me, it's always interesting the way in which people react differently to the same thing. Those differences often trigger interesting conversations that ultimately teach you a lot about the different types of people in this world. There are also always new developments in sports. I don't need to say much more about that because everyone who is a sports fan knows what I am talking about. Sometimes I can't wait to go surfing on the Internet to find out the latest happenings in sports - which player is my club buying, which players are the rival clubs pursuing, what Usain Bolt said in his most recent interview, and so on. So you see, there is always something new going on that should pique your interest, and no matter where in the world it's happening, you can find out in an instant. These days, whenever stuff happens - no matter where - you can find out within moments and that, for me, is exciting. But what I am finding is that many of the kids these days get bored easily because they blinker themselves, shutting themselves off from the rest of the world. Looking sexy Take, for example, parties. When I was young, I enjoyed going to parties. I wanted to see my girlfriends all dressed up and looking sexy. I would also challenge myself to see how many of them I could slow dance with for the night. It was always a challenge to meet new targets, and it made the party fun. These days, kids might as well stay home because dance floors at parties are like the Red Sea when Moses parted it. On one side are the young men dressed in tight pants and flowery shirts, stuff you would never get me to wear back in the day. I'd be laughed out of town. On the other side are the girls, dressed to the nines and with their heads buried in their smartphones. The boys spend all their time dancing with each other like they're rehearsing for Dancin' Dynamites or Dancing with the Stars. Meanwhile, the girls are not even seeing their exploits because they are too busy texting a friend standing next to them. I am convinced that pretty soon we will all lose our tongues because we can no longer talk to people in front of us, we have to text. It baffles me why you would choose to text someone who you can easily lift up your head and say hello to. But when you consider all these things, it's not really a surprise that they are always bored. They get bored easily because they are boring. It is as simple as that.
