A nail technician accused of dousing a man with hot water had her bail extended when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is 29-year-old Wyneisha Gunter of York Street, Kingston 16.

The Crown alleged that on June 16 at approximately 8:45 a.m., the male complainant, who is the accused woman's neighbour, had a disagreement. It is reported that a disagreement developed and Gunter allegedly retreated to her home for a container of scalding water.

She threw the water on the complainant, causing severe burns to the right side of his face and other areas of his body.

"Your Honour, I went into the house and come out with a cup," Gunter said. She claimed the complainant tried to attack her with a cutlass. She said the attack prompted her to retrieve, and douse the man with the scorching water.

The altercation ensued because of noise supposedly made by a mechanical sander. The noise was said to be a nuisance to the accused. It is also alleged that Gunter often made complaints to the police about the complainant regarding other issues.

The complainant was forced to seek medical attention for the injuries. Gunter had her bail extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey. She returns to court on September 25.
