Up to late last night, the police could not give any information regarding the death of Corporal Tyrone Thompson from the Four Paths Police Station. Information reaching THE STAR is that Thompson was on departmental leave, but the reason for this was not ascertained. THE STAR also understands that he has a twin brother who is also a corporal stationed in Manchester. It is reported that Thompson had told a relative earlier in the day that he was feeling stressed. When the relative tried contacting him later, there was no answer so the relative went to Thompson's Inverness home in Manchester where he was found dead with his service firearm in his hand. Initial investigations suggest that it was a suicide, however, it has not yet been confirmed by the police. Late last night, the Corporate Communications Network, the information arm of the police, confirmed the death but did not give any details. This is the third officer to have died on a Tuesday night for the past three weeks. Last Tuesday, constable Lynden Barrett was gunned down, and the Tuesday before, Constable Krystal Thompson was killed. |
