CHEATING LEADS TO UNCERTAINTY IN PATERNITY OF CHILD |

Shanice Watson, Star Writer It was Buddha who once said, "three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth." However, 37-year-old James Powelland his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend Anna Smithhave seen the sun and the moon many times, but the truth remains elusive when it comes to the paternity of Anna's six-year-old child. Anna and James met in Portmore some 10 years ago and started a relationship, however, it ended due to cheating on both sides. According to Anna, James was already in a relationship with another woman when they started their relationship, but she began drifting away when she realised James did not intend to leave his original woman. James admitted that he sensed Anna was cheating on him and confronted her about it. Upon discovering that Anna found a new lover, James ended the relationship. After the break-up, Anna discovered she was 13 weeks pregnant and could not definitively decide if the child was for James or her new lover. Despite the uncertainty, Anna registered the child in her new lover's name. THE STAR had some questions for the two. THE STAR: What do you want the results to be? James: "I'm not hoping for the results to be anything in particular. I just want to know the truth." Anna: "I just want the results to show the truth about my child's father." THE STAR: What would you do if the results say the child's father is James? James: "I don't know how it would work out because another man is playing the father role now, but I would definitely play my part as a father." Anna: "I would have to change the birth records to match the real father and I know James would play his part." THE STAR: Who does the child look like? James: "I've never seen the other man who the child was given to so I would say she looks like her mom." Anna: "She looks exactly like me from she was a baby coming up. She doesn't look anything like either of the men in question." Do you have any doubts that a child is yours, or have you been denied access to a child who you believe is yours? Well, here is the chance for you to find out the truth.
