Lights installed along MoBay's Elegant Corridor

Montego Bay's Elegant Corridor is now brightly lit, following the installation of lights along the thoroughfare.

This was done under a contract which the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) signed with Y.P. Seaton & Associates last year.

LED lamps, which have been installed along the highway from the roundabout at the Sangster International Airport to Iberostar Hotel in Lilliput, were turned on for testing on July 24.

The lights will continue to be turned on at nights to facilitate the requisite checks and adjustments by technicians and engineers.

Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Dr Wykeham McNeill expressed delight at the execution of the TEF-funded project.

"The introduction of lights along this important roadway will significantly enhance the resort town's tourism infrastructure, and most importantly, having the Elegant Corridor lit at nights will also improve the safety of the thousands of motorists and pedestrians, locals and visitors, who commute along the highway daily," he said.

The project, which was undertaken at a cost of $272.1 million, also covered a range of professional fees, including architectural, engineering, quantity surveying, procurement, project management and administrative costs.
